“Só outro dia me dei conta: Praticamente não é possível ir da Zona Norte à Zona Sul, e vice-versa, a pé”.
Apesar de já ter percorrido uma boa parte do Recife a pé (cerca de 7 mil km nos últimos 10 anos dentro da cidade – o equivalente a ida e volta a Florianópolis), só outro dia me dei conta de uma coisa estranhíssima: praticamente não é possível ir da Zona Norte à Zona Sul, e vice-versa, a pé.
A não ser que se vá caminhando até Afogados e, de lá, pela Imbiribeira até o cruzamento com a Antônio Falcão/General Mac Arthur, depois direto até a praia. A outra alternativa é ir até a Praça do Marco Zero, pegar um barco, atravessar até os arrecifes e ir por cima do molhe até o Pina. Existe uma terceira que é ir por dentro de Joana Bezerra até a Avenida Sul e cruzar por baixo da linha do metrô, numa passagem pra lá de esquisita, até o Cabanga.
Fora isso, se a tentativa for pelo mesmo percurso dos carros, o infeliz pedestre terá que cruzar a pé o Viaduto Cinco Pontas e o Cais José Estelita até o Cabanga ou arriscar a vida por cima do Viaduto Capitão Temudo, disputando espaço com veículos motorizados que passam chutados. Neste último caso, se conseguir chegar vivo até a Ponte Paulo Guerra, terá que arriscar a vida mais uma vez, pulando a mureta de concreto e atravessar correndo a entrada da Via Mangue para alcançar, pulando outra mureta, o prosseguimento da calçada da ponte, literalmente arrancada neste trecho. O curioso é que no local picharam na mureta: “O pedestre atravessa como? Voando?” (e até para ter acesso ao shopping RioMar ele teria que voar porque a calçada é interrompida por outra mureta para além da qual projeta-se um precipício de uns dois andares de altura).
A ficha dessa situação absurda de uma cidade que não se conecta para o pedestre só caiu recentemente quando me vi, mais uma vez, em meio a esse quadro absolutamente surrealista, muito mais quando me dei conta de que, tanto o alargamento do Capitão Temudo quanto a construção da Via Mangue, se deram praticamente um dia desses… Ambos sem calçada e sem preocupação com o pedestre (e com o ciclista também). Pelo que sei, a calçada e a ciclovia da Via Mangue foram acrescentadas depois do projeto pronto e aprovado quando alguém disse: “oi, cadê a calçada?”
O que dizer da mobilidade de uma cidade na qual o pedestre só consegue ir da Zona Norte à Zona Sul voando? No mínimo, que muita coisa precisará mudar para que o conceito de caminhabilidade das cidades desenvolvidas seja, de fato, adotado entre nós.

Eu vi essa semana uns turistas se arriscando para ir para o Recife Antigo pela ponte do Forte das Cinco Pontas. Não tem calçada, não tem prioridade, os semáforos não são para facilitar a travessia dos pedestres….. Tá tudo errado.
Só me dei conta como as calçadas são ruins, quando meu filho nasceu. Eu não consigo andar com o carrinho com ele. Cenário desolador!

Auf einem Hügel ebenfalls östlich des Ortes hat sich der Tabakschmuggler, Immobilienhändler und spätere Bankier Juan March 1911 auf den Ruinen des Wachtturms Sa Torre Cega („Der blinde Turm”) die Villa March erbaut.
